COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY OF THE LUNG

Since the lung was first studied by computed tomography (CT), observers have been puzzled by unusual appearances of both normal structures and pathological processes. Many of these continue to pose problems in coming to diagnostic decisions, due to the difficulty in equating CT image appearance with anatomical reality. Densitometric evaluations have been proved to be of little value when applied to intrapulmonary studies. This handbook is intended to be a simple guide to the anatomical as well as to the pathological features in CT of the lung. It has therefore been conceived as a descriptive analysis of signs and their diagnostic significance.
